Moonlighters is ​A one-night fest celebrating shortform, off-the-clock work from professional animators, editors, motion artists and filmmakers on the big screen with a fun crowd.
​
From passion projects and internal studio experiments to animated GIFs, loops, short docs, music videos, and motion tests, it’s a party celebrating what happens when working artists ditch the deadlines and make something for themselves.
Movie Theater. Beer. Fun People. Chicago in the Summer. Good time.​​​

Submissions guidelines:
​
DEADLINE: JUNE 30, 2025.
​
Screening:
Animation/video - 1 second loops up to 10 minute shorts, made within the last 5 years.
Non-commercial/non-profit or unbranded content.
Must be Chicago region or Chicago affiliated artist.
GIFs and extra short pieces will be edited as a montage for the screening if selected.
Non-animation/video submissions are also encouraged, but should be presented in video form.
No AI (obviously).

Please note that Moonlighters is a very small festival and the screening is around an hour, meaning we do have to curate a very small selection and some entries will not fit into our program. You will be notified if selected!
